Direct answers to the questions borrowers ask most often when their loan moves to a new servicer.
Learning that your loan has a new servicer can raise questions, especially if you were not expecting the change. Here are direct answers to the questions borrowers ask most often.
Did my loan terms change?
No. A servicing transfer changes who administers the loan, not the loan itself. Your interest rate, balance, payment schedule, and maturity date are set by your loan documents and are not altered by a transfer.
Where do I send my payment now?
Follow the payment instructions provided by the new servicer in its written communications. If you are unsure, contact the new servicer directly — using contact details you have verified — before sending a payment to a new address or account.
What if I already sent a payment to the old servicer?
Tell the new servicer right away. Payments sent around the time of a transfer are common, and servicers expect to track and post them. Keep your proof of payment until you see it reflected on your account.
How do I know this is legitimate and not a scam?
Healthy skepticism is appropriate — verify before you act. Look up the new servicer independently rather than relying only on contact details in a letter or email. If RCM Servicing is named as your servicer and you want to confirm it, call the phone number published on this website and we will verify the communication with you.
Be cautious with anyone who pressures you to pay immediately through unusual channels, asks for your full Social Security number or banking passwords, or discourages you from verifying independently.
Will my automatic payments continue?
Not necessarily — payment arrangements do not always carry over automatically. Confirm with the new servicer whether any recurring payment arrangement transferred, and do not cancel your own records until the new arrangement is confirmed and working.
Who do I contact with account questions now?
The new servicer. After the transfer date, the new servicer maintains your account records and is the right place for questions about payments, statements, payoff requests, and contact updates. If RCM Servicing administers your loan, our Borrower Support page explains how to reach us.
